The band have had a quiet month on the live front, with no gigs planned for June. However, the guys have been rehearsing some new material which is coming together well. In addition, things are moving forward with the album - watch this space. Although DKB hasn't gigged this month, Douglas has been on duty with The Elements, who played Henry's Cellar Bar at the end of May. The band's new 3 track EP, Sunlight is scheduled for release shortly. Following Douglas's Australasian tour, Douglas Kay Band made it's return to live action on the 24th April at Edinburgh's Voodoo Rooms. The gig was sold out in advance, and a packed crowd was treated to a set which featured Alan Davison on backing vocals for a handful of songs and saw the band debut a brand new song, Adelaide. The first week of May saw Douglas play an intimate acoustic gig at The Port Gallery in Leith. Chris Gibson, who plays alongside Douglas in The Elements joined him on cajon Douglas for the set. The regular band line-up was back in place for the following weeekend, when the guys travelled south for a show at The Alexandra in Clapham, London. Joining them on stage at this show was Empty Boat saxophonist Chris Smallwood. Chris played on two of the tracks from the new album. A full list of upcoming dates are on the live dates page. Douglas enjoyed a fantastic tour of Australasia during February and March, which saw him play in some of the continent's best known cities as well as some smaller towns too. The tour kicked off with two shows in Dunedin, on New Zealand's South Island, the second of which saw him play at the famed Dunedin Musicians' Club in the heart of the city. From New Zealand, Douglas ventured to Melbourne for a couple of shows, the first of which was at the 303 in Northcote alongside The Winter Migration and Buckley Ward. From Melbourne, Douglas moved up to Sydney where he played The Excelsior Hotel in Glebe, supporting the excellent Moleskin. Douglas then headed across for the West Australian leg of the tour which saw him play a show at the famous Settlers Tavern in Margaret River, at which he was joined on guitar and backing vocals for some songs by Paul Gilbody. Paul was also to feature at a number of the other gigs in WA, which included Bar Orient and Tunesmith's Cafe in Fremantle, Collins Music Store and the Prince of Wales in Bunbury, and the Swan Lounge and the Railway Hotel in North Freo. A big thank you to everyone who turned out to see the shows in The Antipodes. The acoustic mini album, Late, has been re-mastered and is now available in its new 5 track format.
