Douglas will appear as part of a special New Year Acoustic Edinburgh on Tuesday 6th January. This AE will feature some familiar faces and promises one or two surprises too. The night kicks off at about 8.30pm at Medina. February will see Douglas embark on a solo acoustic tour of Australasia. Gigs are scheduled for both New Zealand and Australia and will be posted on the live dates page soon. The gig for Kerbside Prophets, scheduled for January 4th 2009 at Embark has been cancelled as the venue has closed. Kerbside Prophets is a great night which does a lot to support the music scene in Edinburgh, and we'll let you know as soon as it finds a new home. The Edinburgh Evening News carried a feature on Douglas Kay Band on 10th October after the band won the newspaper's online "Battle of the Bands" competition with the song Better. Readers were invited to listen to songs from thirteen bands and then select their favourite. DKB gathered 52% of the votes registered, well ahead of the second placed band which had 17%. Following a busy October, which saw press coverage for the band and gigs at Cabaret Voltaire, Heriot Watt University and The Listening Room, DKB had a quieter November which featured just one show - a solo acoustic gig from Douglas at The Hide. Meanwhile, the band worked on some new material whilst continuing to put the finishing touches to the forthcoming album. The acoustic mini album, Late, has been re-mastered and is now available in its new 5 track format. To buy the CD or downloads, click HERE. Tracks from the debut album are still receiving airplay on various podcasts around the world. As a result, How Can I Be Sure? remains in the Podsafe Music Network's top ten highest rated and most listened to lists, almost a year after debuting at number 3 in both charts. 2003 issue of Music News Scotland was followed by an offer to perform on BBC Radio's Janice Forsyth Show and airplay on that programme. This came after an earlier, similar offer to
do a session for radio station Fresh Air FM.
In Australia, Douglas was interviewed by Alice Springs based radio station Centre FM and also made a brief appearance on television channel GWN. Since returning to the UK, a track from the album has received airplay on London radio station Xfm (winning a listener vote on the show X-posure) and on BBC Radio Scotland's Tom Morton Show. Douglas continues to have songs played frquently on podcasts based around the world. October 2004 saw Douglas feature in the national newspaper Scotland on Sunday. The paper included a special offer as part of its Aye Tunes series which allowed readers to download Moving Target from the Scotland On Sunday website. 2005 saw a large amount of airplay on various podcasts around the world, the result of which saw How Can I Be Sure? end the year as 3rd highest rated and 3rd most listened to song on the Podsafe Music Network. |

Thanks to everybody who has visited the website since it went live in April 2003. With the addition of an online shopping facility, the site is now fully up and running. This means you can now buy the album, t-shirt or EP directly through the site by going to the Merchandise page. Other new additions to the site include updated photo galleries, lyric pages (featuring the full lyrics to each song on the new album), and the news archive where you can check on what has been happening over the past few months. The launch gig for the release of the album, OF ALL THE TOWNS TO SLEEP IN, took place on Saturday 5th April 2003 at Edinburgh's Tron Bar. The 11 track album was produced by Douglas and Graeme Robb, and was recorded at More Human Recording Studios in Edinburgh between September 2002 and January 2003.
